Okay, so we weren’t actually in Chambley-Bussieres to witness this record-breaking event – the International Lorraine Mondial Air Ballons festival – but I just saw it on the news and it looked breathtaking!
In all, 433 hot air balloons lifted off from an air base in eastern France, soaring straight into the record books. The balloons, including some spectacular designs such as a French chateau and rotund cartoon character Obelix, took off from Chambley-Bussieres air base on Sunday to beat the previous record for simultaneous hot air balloon flights.
Over 40 nations participated.
