Summer 2017 in the Canadian Maritimes

Adventures of David, Jelynne and Eva

Allemagne-en-Provence

On Thursday, July 30, 2015, we set off from our hotel (Relais Notre Dame in Quinson) for the bed and breakfast (Domaine de l’Enclos) in Gordes. For lunch, we stopped in Allemagne-en-Provence, which is a French commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France. Site of a Roman garrison, and a written history that dates back to the 5th century, today’s Allemagne-en-Provence is a small and friendly stopping place on the road between Gréoux-les-Bains and Riez.

Allemagne-en-Provence's chateau was a fortified castle in the 13th century. In the 16th century, it was restored and enlarged as a 5-level Renaissance chateau, complete with donjon tower.
